Lately I’m really starting to wonder if people are really paying attention to what they are doing. It seems like everything (medically) involving me lately involves someone not paying enough attention.
I was on antibiotics for a sinus infection from a few weeks ago. I was supposed to take three pills a day for two weeks. I would have done that, except the pharmacist managed to miss five pills. There goes almost two days of what I was supposed to take. It’s a good thing those pills weren’t for mental stability or pain management or something that would seriously jeopardize my functioning for those two days.
Next, I mentioned almost two weeks ago that I found out what was wrong with my wrist. Well, after a week of waiting for my doctor to call me and tell me what she wanted me to do as far as treatment, I had still heard absolutely NOTHING. My father called the doctors office and the secretary said that I would needed to go get testing done, so he told her I had already gotten it done. She said she would go talk to the nurse and call me back. I never got a call.
I guess instead of a call I got a letter in the mail. That’s all fine and dandy, except the letter said that “Dr.______ has reviewed your recent EMG results. It shows a very mild carpel tunnel syndrome of the wrist. She is referring you to the orthopedic group phone # ***-**** for further evaluation.” Ok, good, I’m getting referred somewhere to take care of my problem, BUT when I got the test done the doctor performing the test said I have CUBITAL tunnel not CARPAL tunnel (not to mention the secretary spelled “carpal” as “carpel”) so I don’t know what I’m supposed to tell these orthopedic people.
Also, what does further evaluation even mean? I didn’t get a referral so I don’t know what she wants me to do. Does that mean she wants more tests, or does that mean she wants them to tell me what I should do for treatment? I wish that letter wasn’t so vague, but what I put above is all that is on the paper.
So with all this, I have decided everyone needs to take a breather and pay a bit more attention. I would like to get everything figured out with my wrist as soon as possible because in all honesty, I’m tired of being in unnecessary pain. If I can get rid of this pain, shouldn’t they want to help me do it sooner? I’m too young for this lol.
