I started playing the oboe over the summer in July. I have always enjoyed the sound of oboes, and I often go on youtube and look up oboes. They have such a beautiful sound, and hopefully one day I will sound as beautiful as some of those people do.
Before I played the oboe I played the flute for six years. I really enjoyed it, and from that I also picked up the piccolo, but I felt it was time for something new because the flute section in my high school band was 13 people. It was so large that some of us were playing the oboe part because we had no oboe player. I decided I needed to play the oboe, and now I am the first oboe player in my school in 15 years. Hopefully someone is inspired by me and picks up the oboe so that they can continue to have an oboist.
If you play an instrument in a large section, and you are considering switching your instrument to something with a smaller section, I would definitely suggest the oboe. I actually got a wooden oboe for Christmas, but it has some problems and I can’t play some of the lower notes on it but I am finally getting it fully fixed on Friday. Now I will finally be able to play to my full capacity in rehearsal!

About music12301

I am an avid reader and writer. I love to blog about just about anything in the world that I think of. My blogs can be completely random or well thought out and planned, but never the less, they are all my own. I also love to sing and act and music is a big part of my life. I played the flute for 6 years and I also played the piccolo when it was needed in band. I recently began learning how to play the oboe and I love it. I plan to go to college for music and theater.
